Many people have questions about who I am, what I do, where I’m located, what kind of equipment I use, below I have listed answers to many of the common questions I’ve been asked.

If you don’t see the answers to your questions feel free to use the contact us tab, fill out your question, and I’ll try to respond within 72 hours.

I break my rates down into a couple of different categories, and I'd like to note that sometimes these rates change based on the project.

Some of the things that can effect my rates are length of project, hours I'm going to be working on it, whether or not I need to hire crew or not, basically, I need to know what your project is before I can quote you a price to create your film start to finish.

Not to fear though, I do have some standardized generic rates for both my shooting and editing listed below for you to look at to try and get a feel for what I charge for my services.

FILMING

My current Day Rate for filming is 300$ for a 10 hour period.

This rate includes use of my professional video and audio equipment. For a listing of my current equipment I wrote a blog post which can be found .

This rate also includes my travel as long as it is within the Twin Cities, MN and Hudson, WI. If the shoot is outside of these areas, then generally there will be an additional fee for the extra millage

If you would like to book me for less than my day rate, I bill $100 dollars for  up to the first two hours of work, and $50 dollars for every hour after that.

EDITING

My current Day Rate for editing video is $300 dollars for an 8 hour period.

If you would like to book me for less than my day rate, I bill $100 dollars for  up to the first two hours of work, and $50 dollars for every hour after that.

I do not provide media of the final piece, except for 3 copies of a burned DVD of the project, which means if you want it put on a hard drive, either you would have to provide it or I will purchase one and have  it billed to you.

Thank you for reading,  and if you would like to inquire more about my services feel free to fill out the contact link with your project and I will contact you within 72 hours.

I am based out the Minneapolis Twin Cities area, where I happily live as well. I have been working in video/film in the twin cities since the beginning of 2008.

No, I am willing to travel to wherever there is work, but if it is outside of the Twin Cities there will may be an additional charge for fuel and lodging, but that would be discussed when meeting with the client.

I currently use a Canon 7D DSLR to shoot film. I have several Canon lenses including primes, and record audio with the Zoom h4n and the Sennheiser M66 shotgun mic.

My billing varies depending on the project, and the needs of the client.

Some examples of how I bill though include flat rates for the project (generally done when working on a project from beginning to end), day rates (generally billed when need for a shoot), and hourly (generally billed when working on ongoing projects).

For every job except hourly jobs, I require a fifty percent deposit from the client.

The 50% down payment is a fairly standard policy in the media creation community, as well as in other businesses.

The purpose of it is to keep both parties honest and on top of things.

It ensures that the client is serious about the project.

It also keeps me the creator working on your project, because I've already been paid for part of it.

Depending on the project length and size, I do make exceptions. Examples of other payment breakdowns that I sometimes accept are broken down below.

33 Percent Model - Generally done on projects over $2,000

  • 33% Collected Upon hiring
  • 33% Collected Halfway through project (generally after production completed/after first edit)
  • 33% Collected Upon completion

25 Percent Model - Generally done on projects where I am hired from start to finish.

  • 25% Collected Upon Hiring
  • 25% Collected before project goes into production
  • 25% Collected before project goes into post production
  • 25% Collected upon completion of project
